NAHT is pleased to Welcome Ms. Emily R. Soares to the Team. Ms. Soares joined NAHT’s Underwriting & Closings Team in May of 2021. In her role as Closing Manager, Ms. Soares coordinates with our Underwriting Team in the due diligence and closing process for NAHT’s investment, lending, and syndication transactions. Ms. Soares works with Investors and Lenders to ensure the warehouse line borrowing and equity funding to close projects at the lower and upper tiers. She prepares and submits the funding packages, ensuring closings are in accordance with approvals, and requirements of the General Partner, Investors, and NAHT Management. She also handles the formation, registration, and compliance of new and existing legal entities with state agencies. She is also responsible for the management and upkeep of closing document files, both internally and externally, as well as the review and maintenance of all form legal documents.
Ms. Soares began her career with the Commercial Real Estate group with Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP in New York City, where she gained experience in closing large and often complex commercial real estate transactions, such as the refinance of the UN Plaza and Empire State Building. She gained experience in Affordable Housing and Tax Credit Financing when she joined the Real Estate Tax Credit Finance group at Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP in Columbus, Ohio. Most recently, she worked with SkilkenGold Real Estate Development, a local developer and commercial property manager. Her deep passion for Affordable Housing and mission-guided work led her to NAHT.
Ms. Soares graduated from St. John’s University in Queens, NY with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Minoring in History. She was also president of the Philosophy Honor Society, Phi Sigma Tau (Rho Chapter).
